Looking for USRA 0-6-0 Switch engine

I am looking for a USRA 0-6-0 switching engine. My top choice of features include: Made by Weaver or Atlas, O-gauge, 2-rail, CB&Q marking.

I can bend of some of these requirements.

Requirements?

I can bend of some of these requirements.

If you could bend on the O scale requirement, it might make the search a little easier!

I don't have anything that would satisfy you, but I am curious; Do you want something to run, or something to detail for yourself?  Also, can you repaint an engine, or does it have to be CB&Q?

O scale Small Engines

Small engines in O scale 2 rails are a challenge to find. I search for my "Dockside" 0-4-0 close to ten years. And finally last year I found one. It ran ok with its KTM motor. I decided to replace the motor and the tower gear. It was a steep price but it was worth it. Now it has a sound decoder and runs with my 44 Tonner on my layout.

I Saw one or actually 2 on E-Bay last week

I usually spend an hour or two every week checking through E-Bay and happen to be looking for the same engine to scratch build. I wanted to see a Photo of the Fireman's side view (left side) of The Baldwin built 0-6-0 #14 that the RGS acquired from The Denver & Rio Grande in August 1881.

On Sunday July 1st I found 2 Sellers offering an 0-6-0 in "O" Scale both were under $300.00. One was un-painted and built of Brass the other was or can be found in the following train set and was the only other 0-6-0 I saw click on the following url to see it.

I hope this helps you.

Try scratch building

Are drivers available for a reasonable price?  If so, a USRA 0-6-0 is a fairly simple engine to build, especially in something as large as O scale.  Maybe you would consider a scratch building project?

O Scale Yard Sale

You can also join "oscaleyardsale" Yahoo group and post there. This group just concentrate in buying and selling O scale stuff. 90 % is 2 rail. That's where I was able to find my small engines. Try it out.

MTH 2 rail 0-6-0

MTH has an 0-6-0 in a few road names but not the one you want. I wrote down one of the part numbers. it was 20-3452-2. that is for the NYC one. they make 2 versions. for 2 rail you want the one with the scale wheels. they are designed to run on either 2 or 3 rail with a flip of a switch. As an added bonus they come complete with every sound imaginable. I hope this helps.

I saw them too but I am not

I saw them too but I am not skilled enough to paint my own nor rebuild a Lionel. Although the brass one looks promising.

Nick,

At this point in time I am

At this point in time I am not skilled enough to build an engine nor do I have the time with all of my other daily chores I need to do. I still have to build my outdoor layout in "O" gauge.

Time and skill and money

I am not skilled enough to build an engine ..

That is sheer nonsense, sir!  Skills are learned, and learning comes through experience.  I can confidently say that I am skilled enough, because I have done it, but I knew before starting that I had the skills needed to learn and figure it out.

.. nor do I have the time

Now that is a fair excuse for not building your own model.  Time is a precious commodity, and one which we trade for money every day.  Having it now costs a lot more than having it later, but if you can afford the price it's a fair trade.

I wish you the best of luck, and I wish I could be of more help.
