Bluesssman

Inspired by the GLW Freight House, I spent some fun hours building Rena's Tavern and Art. The structure started as a Woodland Scenes kit. Years ago, when I still had hair, I built a similar kit on my first layout. Building this one brought back fond memories. Hope you enjoy...

I like the Schlitz sign!

When I first saw this I was taken back to a bar my Dad used to drag me into down on Beecher street in Milwaukee in the 60s! It was the smells (stink) I remember most...

Enjoyed seeing it

I dunno, Bluesssman, looks kinda small for a piano and drum kit.  Maybe a guitar player and sax man outside.

Inside, I'd expect two stools at a bar, and a keg.  Maybe one painting on the wall.

Nice job.  It's got me thinking about those small corners that need something to fill them.

Do I hear music and laughter?

You certainly can cram a lot of atmosphere into a small space!  Nice job!

Very nice!

What a joint!  Very nice job and a neat little structure.  Perhaps a bullet hole in the front window?  Thanks for sharing.

Love it, Gary!

Like the GLW freight house, if you really analyze it, the building is too small for the stated purpose. But if you suspend reality both work just fine! That's the fun of model railroading, yes? Glad to have given you the impetus to do it and the joy it brought. Thanks for sharing.

Small bars

I think it is plausible, Seem to recall a bar in Key West smaller then that!

A new name.

As Bruce pointed out it is small!  Maybe you should rename it to Rena's "Hole in The Wall" Tavern!  Great work and I like the size!  It reminds me of a burger joint, over in Dallas years ago, built into a building behind the downtown bus station.  It was called the "Hole in The Wall."  It had room for 4 people to sit inside at tiny tables.  The place wasn't pretty or fancy, but the food was great!  At lunch time people were lined up around the block to get good food there.

Put Rena's down by the tracks next to a concrete pad or even a remains of a tile floor from a knocked down building, and some outside tables.  There will be plenty room for customers then.

Draw me a cold one, please

Very picturesque. When in Lou'vil in '54, there was a bar similar to this downtown. Did not have entrance door on corner, but was a corner of the building like this. I don't remember the name, but Falls City was known there and had a great pinball machine. I got the machine to pay for my beer.

Falls City..

As a old Lou'vil boy myself I've had my share of Falls City beer. My Dad used to say of Falls City: "They ought to put it back in the horse!". Brings back good memories... Rick

Little Gem

Certainly won't handle the big crowd, but I'd have to poke my head in this joint if I saw it somewhere. Nice work Bluessman! LOL@Rick.....I take it your dad wasn't particularly fond of that brand?

Kevin, the funny thing..

Kevin,

The funny thing was that my father drank Falls City beer even though he didn't particularly like the taste - but it was cheap!

Thanks all for your great

Thanks all for your great comments. Rena's features Bad Frog Brewery beer and I think the little structure will be located on the future water front scene. I like the idea of some tables outside and maybe a good blues band playing in the courtyard.

I am working on Bad Frog Brewery this weekend along with collecting some pieces for the creek bed and hoping to pour some water soon.
