I'm new to this blog stuff so I hopes this goes where I want...  I have purchased a Digitrax Zephyr Xtra and a PR3 for computer interface.  I followed the instructions as best I could and was not able to install the VCOM driver for the PR3.  The software to uninstall the VCOM, USBDeview is now where to be found.  I want to use the JMRI to setup and run my small layout.

Has anyone successfully installed the software for PR3 and have it working with Windows 7 and how did you get there?

Digitrax has not been of any help...  Hopefully they will get into the 21st century one of these days.

Everything I have read in my documentation says it doesn't work with W7.

My PR3 is running on my old laptop and W XP.

Maybe the digitrax group can help:  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/digitraxsound/

I am running Win 7 64bit

I am running Win 7 64bit using a PR3 with no problems.

Go to start/settings/system/device manager/ports/communications port (x) where x is the port number/double click port x click the driver tab/ click update driver/ when it asks for driver location, point to where the drivers are then have it install the drivers.

Next, you need to open decoder pro go to edit/preferences/connections. select the com port you installed vcom to. this should get you started.

The drivers are on the PR3 disk

I too am running JMRI on our laptop.  Follow the instructions in the last post and tell Windows to search for the drivers on the little mini CD that came with the PR3.  You may get a warning - I seem to remember that the instructions say that you will.  Just tell Windows that you know what you are doing and use them anyway.  JMRI should fire right up then.
