Difficult Upgrade
The prototype Alco C430 was a very limited production engine. A couple were built with AAR type trucks, but most were built with the Alco HiAd truck.
The Tyco model does not have a real frame, and the body is of very heavy plastic. This will make adding another vendor's chassis difficult. You might want to select another BB Alco to model. You may be able to kit bash a new body using parts from the Tyco Shell.
I have included a link to the Tyco site, you may find some help there.

I'm sorry I am not much help.
Good Luck,
John

Power Torque Drive
If the C-430 has Tyco's Power Torque drive, you are in luck. Its a bit of work, but it is possible to resurrect them and even have them running better than they came from the factory.

My C430 is gone now
Several years ago, I took the simple route, and bought one that worked and put the shell of my original over it. And put together a second dummy engine with another shell. About a year ago I decided to go DCC. Found out that these just don't. Gave that engine (and another one that is dead and gone to me now) to a 4 year old boy to run for a while. Meanwhile my running engines are almost all DCC now.
Upgrading Tyco engines
It's not worth upgrading Tyco engines. First of all the castings aren't accurate and the motors don't last. Save your money and buy something else that isn't a toy.
I have a Tyco myself and am using it as a static model along with the caboose that came with it on a Woodland Scenics test system.
I'll try to get a photo posted on Sunday.
