Ontario Eastern

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone was interested in trading decal sheets for engines?  I run a free lance layout, and I have spoken with Kevin at Washington Northern Railroad already about trading a set of engine decals, but I am wondering if there are a few more out that that might be interested?  I need to know how many more that would want a trade before I get them printed...

How about freight cars?

I would be more interested in freight car decals, as the roads intersecting with the Missabe in the 1950s were rather finite, and run-thru power was not the norm.

Regarding an exchange, the down-side for me is that I use "prototype" decals readily available from the Missabe Historical Society or Microscale, so there is nothing special about what I personally could provide.

Perhaps just outright sale of the decals would suffice.  Being a non-confrontational Norwegian by lineage, I need a non-emotional way to decline a request where the other party REALLY wants my decal set, but I have no need for theirs (prior experience talking).

I would like to see the artwork "as applied" on example equipment to be able to decide if the offering is of interest.

What my decals will look like

Here is what the engines will look like for my B & B Railways line.  Freight cars will be the same but with smaller size.

Kind of a neat idea...

... but I'd wonder how many people would want any of my engines running around.

I do wonder, though, if there would be a way to pool the resources of several of us freelancers, get one big run of decals done to save cost, and chop up the sheets while doing some kind of operating session...

sure

Great idea! I would go for somthing like that but I only have OSRX anhd Rail America decals right now (I'm Modeling a joint venture between the two) but I have in the works my "new image" L&PS decals, just have to figure out what they're going to look like! (Edit) perhaps what the lot of us should do is invent up a holding company and "merge" like the V&O AM and VM (keeping our own idenities but having a sot of "theme" to them)?

!980's - 1990's

Back in the days, there used to be a "daisy mail chain" with a decal company manufacturer that I participated in. The way it worked was you sent one of your rolling stock to another member and he would run that rolling stock on his layout. In return he will mail you one of his sheets of decal to your home. After he ran your car on his layout he will mail it to some one else on the list. And of course you will do the same. On one of the cycles my 40 ft boxcar went from coast to coast, twice to Canada, before it got home. And my little railroad went all over the North American continent just like the prototype.  And I had decals from all over. It was a great idea and you were always anxious to see what kind of decals you got in the mail. So you had rolling stock with decals from different roads.

Engines

@LPS1: I plan on using both 6 axle and 4 axle engines, such as dash 8-40CW, to SD70MAC and down to the MP15AC and GP units -the later will be used on this portion that I am building.

@Nick: That sounds link a very good Idea.  Setting up a group that model from the 1980's to now and then pass a freight or two around and in return get a set of decals is a very good idea.  Is there anyone else that would be interested?  Perhaps I will start a new thread Nick, based on what you suggest

would your railroad use a de-turbo GP20?

i have one of those some where that would look good in your paint (anything is better than Conrail)

Sure

A GP 20 would fit in, as I have a few small engines, such as a 4 axle switcher and a GP15T so sure.
