I have a question for a friend. How do you replace a headlight in a riverossi steam 2-8-2. it is dc.

IIRC
If I remember correctly, the top of the boiler and cab assembly detaches (by removing screws) from the rest of the locomotive - the separation line is along the running boards. Once removed it should be easy to replace the bulb.
