Are you going to allow access

Are you going to allow access to reach to the track in the upper left corner of the main part from the hallway by the door?  The track in that curve appears to be a 4-5' reach from the main room due to the lower benchwork edge.

Hagerstown looks great.  You might want to add a separate switch lead track so you don't have to foul the mainline to cut cars.

Access

Yeah I see that now, the lower level will probably be thinner, however I'm still not done tooling with that area. I guess you reach that area if you had to from the back side aisle, between west staging and the layout.  I was having issues originally with the upper and lower decks the same depth. I don't know from experience but I would think that isn't the best of designs. So the upper level being thinner will definitely be more linear in nature.

Switch lead

Where would you recommend that I put the switch lead. Every time I start to put it in, I go back to fouling the main again. I have highlighted the main in red.hlighted.jpg

Following with interest

Rob: Hi! Great layout idea and a great prototype division to model. Nice to see the Hagerstown roundhouse live again. I have been a fan of the Hagerstown railroading area and the Roundhouse Museum for many years. Lived in HarpersFerry/Charlestown area 13 years and now live in Strasburg, VA. Have taken our our 4 year old grandson [lives in CentrevilleVa] to see 'Trains of Christmas' the past 3 years. He caught TrainFever that first year-- he loves trains and I am doing my part to keep that love going. Will get him into HO in another year or so. I hope to get out of my armchair and built a small shelf layout later this year. Your blog put a needle under my chair cushion.  Will follow your progress with interest. Curious-- why did you pick WM RR Hagerstown area  -- Do you live in that area?    EFB [this is a second try at adding comment -- not sure it posted on my 1st try]

Sorry to take so long getting

Sorry to take so long getting back!  This might work, although I don't know if it fits with your minimum radii, etc:

Switch lead

This what I ended up doing. Thanks for your help.... Onto the next towntch_lead.jpg

The circles in the plans are the lolly columns that cannot move. The one behind the roundhouse will probably end up being the smokestack for the power plant or something like that. the other I may just blend into the backdrop that will split the peninsula
