Check out the fireman/brakeman...

He's wearing a white shirt and bow-tie... on a coal fired locomotive.

Glad I don't have his laundry bill.

Don't think its a bow tie, 

Don't think its a bow tie,  Looks to me like goggles. 

Note the clean pit and that the turntable bridge is almost shiny.

Haven't figured out if the drive under the control shack is rotary, electric motor or is a cylinder/rod type drive. 

Note the truss rod equipped PRR baggage cars in the background.

The engine is obviously well maintained but there is still a lot of soot on the smokebox.

Unlike modern ties and wood, the ties are all first quality with no splits or cracks in the ends.
