Just an update to let you know the status of the December MRH, which is due out today. It's done and currently in ad-testing. We have staff go in and click on everything (~500 links) to make sure they all go where they need to go. Heaven help us if an ad goes to the wrong website! We're also finalizing the two videos in this issue - What's Neat of course, and a demo video for electrical impulses. We're expecting to post the Dec MRH late tonight, and then we will be posting Running Extra the evening of Thu, Dec 16. We always give MRH a day to bake in and find any last minute errors before we add it to the back of MRH RE, that way the paid readers get the most flawless version of MRH possible.

It's even worse! It's the middle of December already!

Geez, 9 shopping days until Christmas!  Oh - wait... the liquor stores are open until 5PM on Christmas Eve and they have candy as well as booze, so everyone under and over 21 is covered....

I may have done that once years ago...

I agree Janet

Nothing says happy holidays like cheap malt liquor, scratch offs and a Kit Kat bar!

Kit Kat Bars Rule!

And I, for one, have gotten into "Happy Coffee". Just keep it down enough so you can still drive.

Mid December already? Time flies!

Wow, it's mid December already? I'm still belly up from all the turkey I ate at Thanksgiving! Guess I'll have to wait for my "TMTV and RE" Thanksgiving bundle renewal to be processed before I can download and read the December RE edition.

Yaron, You're not alone. TMTV is done, but RE seems...

'nuff said.  They wanted a nag after 2 business days, I waited 4 to do so, but nothing but silence so far.  Think that turkey was loaded...

We got caught off guard

We got caught off-guard at the overwhelming response to the special deal as renew requests. Each one has to be assessed by hand and manually extended, the entire process can take 15 minutes or more per request. With hundreds of requests to process at about 4 per hour and you can see that's well over 40 solid hours assuming we do NOTHING ELSE.

Ordinarily, we have a few hours per day to handle support requests, so we're chipping through these at a few per day. The 7-10 days of magazine release, that leaves zero time for support requests unless they're drop dead urgent, so since early December, processing these requests has ground to just a couple per day.

Once issue release is complete, we will ramp back up to a couple dozen per day processed, and we should complete the entire list in time for Christmas. Oh to be like an Amazon dot com and have millions of employees. We're just a mom-and-pop outfit, literally, with my wife and I the only two full time folks, and everyone else is part time contractors.

We run a tight ship with discounted prices, so there's little extra money to hire temps for a few weeks. The move to the new forum this coming weekend will help save us several thousand per year in support costs keeping this dinosaur of a system on life-support. So that will be a big help.
