Just wondering if anyone has a reference to other model railroad forums from around the world,...maybe some sort of list, ... with links??

I happened across a Marklin forum just recently (forgot how I got there), that had some discussions on a topic I am researching. So I joined it, even though that discussion topic was rather dated. Hope to get some replies that might help with my research.

I am wonder if there might be some sort of forum (European?) more directly related to Roco products. I have acquired a couple of their steam locos that have 'tender drives', and I would like to see what some of those owners have to report on their experiences.

(Sorry to be so inept at internet searches, and computer stuff)

Google or

Using some other search engine is your friend. Take this as you want but you don’t have to have other people do your work for you.

Type in European train or model train forums and follow what you find.

RMWeb

I'll second Dave's info on that forum. I'm a member there and check in frequently, especially the radio control and the 3D printing subforums. Takes a bit to get used to their use of words to explain things.

Thanks guys. I'm just getting

Thanks guys.

I'm just getting so sick of using google that seems to have nothing but 'ads/advertisements' instead of what we are looking for. Often you have to search thru many pages just to find the official website of the company or product one is looking for !!

Use a script blocker

if your going to continue to use the internet sooner or later you'll fine your better off using a script blocker, and quit using google's DNS server.

Otherwise , you'll be condemned to having your bandwidth choked to death with advertising. Most web pages are up to 80% advertising now. Its becoming like cable tv , content is almost non existent , your just paying for access to advertising.

I switched to DDG a couple of months back , results are decent , I still use google about once a week but thats it.

Another vote for RMWEB for Overseas stuff

I use https://www.rmweb.co.uk/daily. I am interested in UK as well as continental railroads. Excellent forum software and tight sometimes pithy administration by Andy York. Like this forum it is owned by a magazine,  the UK publisher of the British Railway Modeling magazine. It is also in a close relative of the US English language. Just remember they use "sleepers" under the rail instead of "ties".

There is even an excellent topic on what's new in North American HO that covers most RTR announcements in a single place often daily https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/112577-ho-north-american-product-news/

DDG?

DDG= https://duckduckgo.com/ an alternate search engine.  I suggest you use it with Firefox Browser rather than Chrome in case Google gets jealous.

Hello Brian,
 I feel your pain, it can be very hard to find out about European modelling sites because of the language barrier.
However, Google itself makes most of these websites readable and for more detailed translations, try DeepL or Yandex translate.
Here are my favourite German language fora;
https://www.stummiforum.de
https://www.h0-modellbahnforum.de
https://www.drehscheibe-online.de/foren/list.php?010,page=1 (This is the model railroading section)

France;

There are also great fora in Dutch, Belgian, Italian, Austrian and probably the Scandinavian countries too. There is even a Russian forum that I’ve come across but I haven’t kept any details on these latter, sorry.

Certainly with the above German sites, you can actually get away with posting in English because so many German people understand it rather well BUT you’d still need to navigate in the native language - this is where Google comes in handy.
Tip: Should you wish to join such a site, for free, you’d be best trying that in the original language as I have certainly had very odd results when entering information in on the translated site!

Naturally, all these sites have some experience of Roco as they generally manufacture models for all these nations but the best results will come from the German and Austrian sites.
Cheers,
 John

Thanks very much for the continuing help with this subject. Regrettably I have not had time to pursue these other forums just yet. Need to get track laid on the upper deck of my new layout.
