As a solitary modeler lurking in the background for quite some time, I've decided to post about my layout endeavors. Thought I'd start with a few pics...

Looks like an excellent work-in-progress.

I spent five years in southern Germany with Uncle Sam as my travel agent.

I love seeing representations of it.

Automation

Since I run trains alone, the layout is partly automated with Lenz BM-1 and BM-2 activated via relays from NCE BD-20 outputs. Same relays also operate Viessmann semaphore signals.  Clearly rudimentary but avoids computers. I'm able to run 5 or 6 trains simultaneously on the double track main.

Alpine railroading

Very impressive mountain and village scenes. The background images really blend well with the foreground 3D part. Is that a cog railway going up to the station at the snow line?

Snow line

Yes, rack railway up steep incline to above snow line. To the left of photo is ski slope. My homage to alpine skiing.

Snow Line

Bonjour Pdg,

Very beautiful, natural and peaceful depiction of your mountain Railroad. A breath of fresh 'Alpine air'!

Thanks for sharing here on MRH.

Quite the sight. Nicely done and almost overwhelming.

Congrats.

Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I am a solo modeler. My inspiration comes from time visiting Europe, including skiing in the Alps.  Of course it is otherwise created from my imagination. The vast amount of European model train products and ease of shipping makes it possible. The language barrier is challenging at times especially involving technical products. I mostly use Roco train products. And I'm partial to Zimo decoders- I find them quite easy to program simply using the NCE Procab without any other aid.  For me this is essential because I don't have interest in computer operation, decoder pro or the like.

I must say there are some very talented modelers posting on here. The results of their work is incredible. And that is true for the technical gurus too...admittedly I usually don't understand what they are saying

Are you located here in USA or overseas?

Are there other forums that you frequent that deal more exclusively with  Euro trains?

I have some extremely nice Marklin passenger cars and a Precision Craft BRO1 steam engine made in Korea that I would like to find a good home for (maybe without resorting to shipping to Europe)

Filip,
All kit build.
Yes, Metcalfe cardstock kits.  And Kibri , Vollmer, Faller, Walther kits.
I took some liberties in modeling the chemical plant/ refinery  because I don't know how they operate and quite frankly don't have much interest in researching how they do. 🙂

I think you did a VERY nice job on your refinery, and particularly in a fairly small footprint.
