Division Annual Challenge

My wooden trestle built for our Division meeting next weekend is completed. A Kanawha, Youngstown & Northern 40’ boxcar assigned to the maintenance department rests above.

Superb pictures, ALL.

I simply love this forum/thread "Weekly Photo Fun". Everyone of you that posts, shows me how bad my equipment is. And I could never post a picture. I've just never had the "green thumb" or whatever it takes. So I must tell Y'all how much I appreciate these pictures. I just try to be happy with what I have and with what I am able to accomplish.

Thanks Deemiorgos!

As to the equipment on the flats, the mobile crane and the Fairmont tamper are kits from Custom Finishes. The Burro crane is an Overland brass model. I’m modelling up to 1996… so I can run my RSC-14’s and RS-18’s!

Dominic...

Nice scene and some very nice modeling therein. I really like your treatment of the RS-3: Definitely looks ridden hard and put away wet, but doesn't have rust where it shouldn't. Well done!

northbound diesel

The north runs on diesel for electricity, transportation and heating.  A large part is barged to northern communities along Hudsons Bay out of the Port of Churchill.  Solid strings of tank cars carry the fuel to the tank farm at the port where it is transloaded to the barges.

Strange little structure

Andre and Deemiorgos, thank you for your positive comments.

The odd structure next to the fire hydrant is the entrance to a pedestrian tunnel which long ago replaced the Grove Street crossing in Cobleskill.  Its counterpart on the far side of the tracks can be seen behind the RS-3's stack.  You can also see the well-worn pathway taken by everybody who dares not use it.

Like the rest of my modules, this is a prototype scene.  Here it is from Google Earth in 2001:

bleskill.JPG

Just one main track left by then.  And enough mature trees to obscure everything these days.

And here it is from Bing Maps Streetside in 2016, with plywood in the side opening:

I thought I must be ..........

going blind.

Dom, I came into this thread a little late and read your post with the Google Earth photo. Spent 10 minutes trying to match the text with the photo. The only thing I was sure of was I couldn't find Waldo.

I eventually wised up and started from the beginning of the thread and when I found your photo of the modeled scene a big ole' bright light turned on over my head!

 Beautiful scene!

@Dom

Looks like the pedestrian underpass still exists, although it's been sealed with cyclone fencing.   https://www.google.com/maps/@42.6754581,-74.4868574,3a,75y,359.66h,78.11t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sdDOqmHljuPad6mdEyrKVkg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DdDOqmHljuPad6mdEyrKVkg%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D94.72206%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192
