It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were several late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.

PRR, good to see your namesake here.  Great photo.

I've been working on weathering ties for the last couple weeks, brushing on PanPastels one tie at a time.  It's obviously been slow going, but I think it's an improvement over what I did on the previous layout, which was just staining alone.  That didn't give the variation that I had hoped.

First, a couple prototype pics from Atlantic, Iowa to show what I'm shooting for.

And here's my attempt to recreate that look on the layout.

Your ties look fantastic.

But, I’m curious, what are the vertical lines in the photo at the edge of your ballast?

Thanks very much Mike.  My roadbed is HomaRoad, from Central & Western , and those vertical lines are slots that the manufacturer provides to make it curvable.

My initial ballasting only covers the ties themselves.  I come back later to ballast the shoulders after my base scenery layer is in, so it doesn't cover the ballast.

Flooding

Inspired by the many flood photos I have been working on this small diorama representing a washout. The “water” is still drying and I still have some details to add.

After a catastrophic disaster with my stale old dios I had to start some new ones.  Here is the first shots from it today. A little more to do but you get the idea.

Mr. Truckstop

Steve,

You knocked it out of the park this week. Amongst all the goodies I was especially taken with the yellow BKTY

boxcar and that wonderful picture of your daughter.

Well done my friend!

Thanks Rick

I knew that scene was kind of your taste.  That BKTY box was one I actually got pics of both sides to be able to paint up.     BKTY is a weathered train fan gold mine isn’t it?  Where old boxcars go to die. Thanks again, Steve

First time posting a WPF pic, but finally have a few areas finished at a level of "finish" so I can participate...

Hope you enjoy the pics!
