I want to make some custom table leg toe caps (covers for the wooden ends of the bottom of a table pedestal).  I want to use brass sheet and will need to solder some perpendicular edge joints.  I have not soldered brass sheet before so could use some advice on the following:

- type of solder and flux (my web research has pointed me toward TIX)

- what thickness of brass sheet to use (the top portion of the toe cap will have a 1.25" radius, so want something that I can bend to that radius and keep smooth, but also want it to be durable enough to withstand people's feet brushing against these feet

- what type of brass - I've come across "red brass", but it is too red for this application -- I don't know if there are other types of brass sheet -- so, do I simply buy brass sheet that is not labeled "red brass"?

Everything I've seen like

Everything I've seen like this has been cast, either solid (or at least thick walled) brass, or gilded pot metal. Sheet brass is going to be too thin to take much wear and tear.

Rather than trying to make something new, have you considered looking at a renovation supply house, or some kind of picker's shop? Maybe even Antique Archeology itself?

Bunches of them here...  https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=clawfoot+table+caps
