I used the recently released Black Cat Decals etched end cages for slabside hoppers to fix up a TLT car.  These can also be used on F&C and Sylvan kits as well.  More here:

Very nice,

Was it easy to cut aways the plastic ones? 

I'll have to dig mine out of the boxes they are in to take a look at them. 

In the meantime, do you have a hopper still with the plastic end cages to compare side by side?

Last couple of photos show before and after

If you go to the end of the blog post you will find a couple of photos showing before and after comparisons.  In my opinion the etched end cage better captures the look of these cars.
