Well its been awhile since I posted. I now have a resin printer and have been working on the UP/Relco vegetation control train which I hope to make available through ETSY in the near future. I wanted the model to use the headlights shown below, but these are no longer made so I decided produce them myself.

My  version has the LEDs attached to an acrylic rod using 1/16" heat shrink tubing. The originals used a hole from a #50 bit. These use a #52 bit which is slightly smaller. If you look at a previous post you can see that the originals were angled on the end where these has the LED inline with the rod. Makes it easier to install in the headlight housing. As you ca see, this works great for all locomotives.

I purposely left the rods long so I can customize the length based on the application.

Great stuff!!

Like your idea. And if need be, one can bent the rods themselves.

Cut the plastic rod

When you cut the plastic rod to length do you polish the end? And do you cut the rod with just a hobby knife or can you just use side cutters since it is so small?
