My model railroad is not prototypical. I have already designed my decal sheet using Microsoft PC, not Apple. I know that the custom decaler will want it done in Apple's OS. The last time I used a custom decaler's services was many years ago. I've forgotten his name or the company. However, I think he lived in the state of Michigan. He was a great designer to work with. I'm in need of a dealer that can make decals in 8.5 x 11 sized sheets and is of the water slide type. I need your help.

Bill @ PDC

Doug,

Contact Bill at http://www.PDC.CA , I had him make my custom decals from my CorelDraw artwork and they came out fantastic. Also, very quick turnaround time.

First of all....

...Delete your e-mail and phone number from your post, that's begging to be hacked and spammed.

Second...  the OS you use to make your master(s) on is irrelevant. What's important is the file type, and the resolution. Check with your eventual supplier as to what file type and resolution they prefer... though most of them can convert between various file types (some for an additional fee). The higher the resolution of your original art, the better the results are likely to be. If you want things to be resized, then vector graphics are preferred.

Third... Bill Brillinger here on MRH advertises decal services, and has done work for a number of other members here, including myself. here I've been very pleased with his work!

It's a little more difficult to get in touch with other forum members right now due to the pending transfer of the forum software (private messaging is shut down pending the change) but that should only be another week or two.

Bill Brillinger is very fine.

I’m doing 25 covered hoppers with 11 duplicates.  This is the second major job Bill has done for me.  His customer service, artwork and decals are superb.  The highest praise a maker can get is repeat work.  This is our second big job.  There have been a couple smaller jobs too.  Bill will continue to get my small and big jobs.

Cedarleaf Decals

Stan at Cedarleaf Decals is another guy who does custom decal printing. When I contacted Stan, Bill, and Circus City a while back they all were pretty much the same price. Less than $10 difference between all three. I call that pretty even pricing. Stan is well known in the large-scale community ( "G gauge") but I'm sure he can also do smaller stuff.

Im a very well pleased customer.

One trick I did for a fleet of hoppers was creating the number series in two decals, example 42xx series, I had lotss of 42 created together and then numbers 00 thru 99 created. Two numbers fit perfect between ribs, so it was easy, made applying easier and didnt have to try to cut single numbers from a string. I also had data created, kept it generic for certain cars.
