painting is with a paper towel just blotting it on,  yes it could be done with an air brush for better looks.  I need to get a more white grey paint than the tan grey paint.  The detail is very very small but accurate, but being small and to scale,  most of the small detail does not show up when you are printing at .004mm resolution.  This model is a combination of multiple crossings.  I took things I liked from some and removed things I did not like.   Not an exact copy of cross but close and most people would not notice or care anyway

I did not like the Grade Crossings made for N scale, so I made my own.

The fact that they are only 6mm wide makes the detail so small it is close to microscopic,  but I know the detail is in place. and from 18" to 24" viewing distance,  no one will ever know or care.

Putting them under a macro lens on a camera, well you can see the bumps in the paint from dabbing the paint on with a paper towel.

The are N scale not HO.

I do not think I have market to sell the kit in HO with all the different track codes and company's.

N scale is easy I need only 4 versions to have it fit -  Atlas Code 80 & 55, Peco and Micro Engineering.

If I do make them in HO it might be just the Decks only,  the model railroader will need to shim them to fit or be rail height.  and the end pieces will not line up with the top of the ties as the modeler will be shimming them to match rail code height.

I also made them more like legos than one section.  You need a bigger crossing ad more span plates etc.  It think it looks better too with the miner variations between each span plate.

Prototype

Curious, where are the prototype photos taken? I don't remember seeing this type of rail crossing.

BTW: I think your model looks great.

I do not know

I just pulled those photos from the web,  The concrete crossings are very common in Arizona

Google Maps -

Asphalt gets hot soft and melts in Arizona,  you can see how the road has been pulled back a foot or more in this link.  This is why we have wavy cross walk lines in Arizona, Asphalt gets hot and soft and car driving over it distort the Asphalt.  This is also the same reason why Arizona has some of the best roads in the united states.  Around ever 3 years they have the big Asphalt Zamboni come it peel up the top surface of the road and re asphalt the road.

So back to your question Precast concrete spans last a long time under the Arizona Sun
