Hi there, as a recent "convert" to MRH magazine I'm still "getting to grips"  with things, but I'd like to know are the "Subscriber downloads"  only available for a limited period please?

Reason for asking is that having seen mention on the Forums of the Geoff Bunza article ref' Arduino projects in the Dec 2016 edition (I know, way back, but ! )  I have read thro'  this & would like to try the projects out, but they all rely on the download of the sketches !

So, is it possible to still get this download zip file somehow, please?  It doesn't download from the link in the "Subscriber Download " section.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dr Geoff B "Intro to Arduino" sketches : Dec 2016 downloads

Dear Keith,

Firstly, welcome to MRH! It's great to have you onboard

RE Dr Geoff B's "Intro to Arduino" sketches and "Subscriber Downloads" section.

Can confirm that the "Downloads" are indeed available.
I suspect the issue is that you may be manually hunting in the wrong place?

Method 1 - Via the Article

- Use the Search box at Top Right of the page, search term "Geoff Bunza Arduino Introduction"

- should take you to the "Modellers Introduction to Arduino" article thread page
https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/magazine/mrh2016-12-dec/arduino

- Click the "Click to read this article" text

- which takes you straight to an online version of the Dec 2016 article.
Navigate accross 2 page-turns, you should be looking at "Page 5" as indicated by the header text at the top of each page.
http://mrhpub.com/2016-12-dec/online/html5/index.html?page=132&noflash

- About half-way down the page is a clickable link for "Bonus Downloads", which should take you to
https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/magazine/mrh-2016-12-dec/bonus-extras

- which is where you'll find the ZIP file of Arduino Sketches and associated files related to the article.
Right-click --> "Save File As...", and save the resulting ZIP file to a relevant location on your local machine

NOTE! Some browsers may hold the resulting downloaded ZIP file as "questionable".
EG Some versions of Chrome Browser may have a "warning" in the bottom LH corner, which you need to manually acknowledge, and click "Keep" to allow the file to save.

Method 2 - Via the "Magazine --> Members-Only Extras" link in Top Menu bar

- Get onto the MRH forum webpage

- In the Menu Bar at top right, float-over "Magazine" link
(drop-menu appears)

- Click on "Members-only Extras"
(If you've signed up to MRH forum, and have successfully posted this thread, you're a "Member" ).

- New page appears, click on "Subscriber-Only Bonus Extras"

- New page appears, listing all "Bonus downloads" in order of Magazine Issue date. You'll need to find the December 2016 issue, using the "next/previous page" navigation at the bottom of the page
(Hint: it's on "Page 3")

- Once you've found the Dec 2016 entry, clicking it should get you to

https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/magazine/mrh-2016-12-dec/bonus-extras

- which is where you'll find the ZIP file of Arduino Sketches and associated files related to the article.
Right-click --> "Save File As...", and save the resulting ZIP file to a relevant location on your local machine

NOTE! Some browsers may hold the resulting downloaded ZIP file as "questionable".
EG Some versions of Chrome Browser may have a "warning" in the bottom LH corner, which you need to manually acknowledge, and click "Keep" to allow the file to save.

Thank you

 Hi Prof Klyzir,

Thanks for the welcome

And a bigger thanks for your help  much appreciated. It was, as you said, my browser blocking the download, so I've learnt something else new today.

We're never too old to learn.

Learning...

Dear Keith,

Good to hear we go it sorted...

...although, I would note that the "Keep" trick should ONLY be used when you are SURE the file that's been "held up" is absolutely legit... Chrome queried it For A Reason...

(and it your browser is "spontaneously downloading" things that you didn't explicitly and consciously ask-for,
then you may have bigger IT Security issues to deal with rather shortly!)
