Unless I'm overlooking it, I don't see a forum here for model railroad items one may be wanting to sell or swap. I will assume such is verboten here.

I have many items that have been rendered surplus. I dread the thought of learning to use eBay with its charges, hoops, etc, so I ask:

IS there a model railroad forum/site that offers an active "Sell/Swap" forum?

Thanks.

Where to sell?

Hi Andre ,  Are any of the items you plan to sell S scale  :> )   I've seen sites like HO yard sale etc. but never tried them. If you have a lot of stuff and want to maximize the proceeds it's hard to beat ebay. They have the largest bidder pool and very easy  list and sell tools. The greater liquidity easily pays for their fees .....DaveB

For us, reaching our audience isn't free

Our one cardinal rule is: reaching our audience to conduct business is not free. So for you all, that would mean paid classifieds. We have considered doing paid classifieds but the hassle factor is pretty high on that for us. It would have to be something like a paid Craig's list, but then if you've done Craig's list then you know the hackers are out in force and if you post any contact info they'll steal it, hack you, etc. Bottom line, a paid classified on here isn't a very good option for lots of reasons, so best use one of the other sites that specialize in personal item sales.

So you can't set up a "Joe's

So you can't set up a "Joe's List" for model trains?

Itt takes an amazing amount

Itt takes an amazing amount of gall and self privilege to basically post a "for sale" ad after being told by the site owner it's not allowed....

Doesn't bother us -- it happens

Hey it happens, and most of the time it's just not knowing rather than something crass and blatant. We'll just take any unauthorized for sale stuff down and send them a gentle reminder email that such posts are not allowed.

What really would take the gall, etc would be if they then ignored us and kept on posting anyway. No one has ever done that -- but if they did, that would be grounds for having your login on here terminated.

the Groups.io groups already

the Groups.io groups already mentioned and Facebook has similar buy/sell/trade options.

IF you are looking specifically for a forum, then Trainboard.com is the only one I know of.

Gall?

Not really, just didn't realize that answering DaveB's question along with redirecting DaveB off this list to would be against the rules. You see, we've "known" each other for decades on various forums/email lists, and I just failed to think it through, instead I was simply talking with Dave.

Thoughtless mistake on my part.

FWIW: You don't know me, nor do you know what I stand for, my values etc, so you're in no position whatsoever to make a character judgement concerning me, just as I am in no position to do so with you. (Hence I refrain from insulting you in return.)

However, think what you want about me. I assure you I won't loose a bit of sleep over it.

For Sale Forum

This is the one I subscribed to. Most folks here are good to deal with.

This is a HO swap/sale site..........

We won't either

Neither will we loose any sleep over it. We're not so black and white about our rules that we can't look the other way once in a while when someone is just trying to help out a fellow modeler, as in this case.

No biggie.
