A little forced perspective.

1_151208.jpg 1_151526.jpg     In both photos the foreground cabins are O scale. The background models are HO Scale. They are situated less than a foot away from each other yet the eye is seeing the scene as cabins and loco either down the embankment or the cabins across the other side of the rail yard.

Mechanicville blues

2resized.jpg

Amtrak’s Adirondack, with a D&H PA-4 in the lead, meets a Boston & Maine freight getting ready to depart Mechanicville, N.Y. in October 1975.

Actually, I haven't modeled Mechanicville (yet), but that’s the only place these two trains would meet in real life so I staged the photo elsewhere.  The PA is a Proto 2000 model that I modified to represent a Morrison-Knudsen rebuild.  The lead GP38-2 is an unmodified Athearn Genesis, but the second one is a Proto 2000 model that I was going to sell but decided to improve instead.  It now looks almost as good as the Genesis now that I’ve removed the odd side sill bump-outs at the step wells and repainted the blue for a better match.  The factory blue was very strange.

The trailing GP9 is also from Genesis, but I also repainted its blue in order to get a faded look.  Yes, I masked around the “BM” logo.  Same goes for that Kadee B&M boxcar.

I adjusted the image's overall color balance using Adobe Photoshop Express and painted the sky and exhaust using the Paint 3D program that came with my Windows.

PRR and Dominic, great photos!  Dom, I especially enjoyed reading about all your work on the models involved.  Very impressive!  I've been down that same path with reworking P2K and Genesis GP38-2s, so I could really relate to your comments.

I've been laying ties on the new layout this past week and I hope to finish the last of them up today if I hustle.  The main portion of Atlantic yard, shown below, and the end of my peninsula made the move with us, but all the other visible trackage is new.

Remote Engineer view on the GHR

We're continuing to improve the remote crew's experiences for industrial switching ops on the GHR. Here's the latest remote Engineer's "in cab" experience - front, side and rear views from 3 live-streaming Choo Choo Vision cameras:

The remote Engineer also hears the loco sounds via a Zoom call (musician setting) and makes/receives crew radio calls via Zello with PTT and optional speaker mics.

Great work as usual

All great photos already here this week.   I havent added many lately but got out today to take a few.  Here's some projects I recently finished up.   A couple Atlas TOFC piggybacks and the Tangent NP combo door box.  Both belong to a friend that I just weathered for him.  Thanks for lookin' Steve

Good looking Mikado

I like the Elesco feedwater heater, all-weather cab and tender extension. Really awesome looking locomotive. The weathering task you've assigned yourself will be watched closely.
