Foam "ballast" Benchwork and roadbed

Any suggestions for marking on black foam roadbed? I've tried colored marks and the markings don't show up.I have had a little success with a white paint pen but it doesn't really stand out. Florescent marks just disappear on the foam.

Silver Sharpie

Have you tried a silver Sharpie?

I would try a white pastel

I would try a white pastel pencil. You may be able to find them at the dollar store in the arts and crafts section. Hobby Lobby has them , I would expect Micheals too.

The other alternative is if there any other children ( < 10year olds )in the house , you can steal the other kids crayons and sharpen them . Or go to Wally World and buy your own.
