Jealous

I've been down to see that twice in the last three years and each time there's Doyle McCormack's F unit on point. and no steam to be seen The first time, they said there'd be steam and I badly wanted to see 25 in operation. Denied. I was freaking livid, as we'd already bought the tickets before the trip and that was the selling point my wife used to go there. We rode anyway as we'd already paid but I was in 'a mood' the whole time because not only was 25 not running, it went the opposite direction well north of this spot, into deep woods instead of anywhere near the water.

I still wanna see this running and ride behind it someday.

FYI, they store a couple of their steam engines in the massive blimp hangar at Tillamook (and other equipment just outside), which is well worth a visit.

The F unit

Doyle doesn't own it, he sold it to the OCSR since there really wasn't much of a chance of getting it out of there economically.

I guess I've had the opposite luck of yours, Lee, the first time I rode it (birthday present from my wife) we had a cab ride on the Heisler #2, and since then I've seen it being pulled by Poulson #2 (2-8-2) and I've seen #25 running light.
