The Canadian Pacific Arbutus spur lasted until May 2001.  It had a long history as both an interurban line as well as a freight line for the BC Electric, BC Hydro and Canadian Pacific Railway.  It had a lot to offer both in the historic and modern eras.  It would be a nice small switching layout.  More here:

Great photos and storyline Marc

It’s a shame more politicians don’t understand the substantial environmental benefits of railways over trucks.  So much history lost for no good reason and those inter urban cars would have become immensely popular.  As you point out, Robertson was a failure as a strategist and IMHO his “too many bike lanes” policy just snarls traffic.
