I saw this on another forum and wondered if anyone else had similar experiences?

Anyone ever order from this place? I cant seem to get a response from them via email. There is no number to call them either.

MRH: Based on the discussion below, this site is just one of many questionable websites that all appear to be related and aim to get your money and any product you might get (no guarantees) will not be returnable if it has any issues. Bottom line, if you Google the product you can likely find it for the same price from a reputable seller, so go with that and avoid these guys.

the name tells you volumes

I know nothing of this particular company, but a store that claims it deals with "closeouts" of "model trains" tells me that at this particular business venue (maybe it has others, who knows), it deals with remaindered product others weren't able to sell in the normal course of their business.  If there was a problem with something you received from them, there's very little chance they would have another unit of the item to swap for the return, and virtually none they could replace broken parts. Likely, the only recourse is either a "store credit" or your initial purchase price back, maybe minus a restocking fee.  After quite some time from when the entire transaction chain began.

Their requirement for you to include a phone number when filing a support ticket for some problem with an order when they have none listed for calling them also speaks volumes: "Don't call us, we'll call you."

Personally, I wouldn't buy from an outfit like this with your money, much less my own.  Yeah, maybe I'd lose a shot at the deal of the century.

Maybe I'd lose something else.

Did you?

Search that web site? Down at the bottom, is a contact. You click and it gives address and a form to fill out and send. I suggest you send them an inquiry with your questions. As for quality? El Caveat Emptor. Let the buyer beware!

A local hobby shop used to take leftovers off the hands of

Distributors.  East coast roads no one in Cali was interested in.  That shop closed when the owner died, but that business model died earlier when big outfits made local distributors obsolete.  It used to be that a local distributor needed to order every paint scheme  the manufacturer offered to get the deal done, which left a lot of models that were hard to sell in Cali.  Probably some dealer in New York had the same problem being stuck with S.P., S.F., and U.P.

Now with those small distributors gone, and the manufacturers all doing limited runs, there probably are no close out deals left.

They appear to be a 3rd party

They appear to be a 3rd party broker ,selling from "manufacturer " or distributor stock ,and then drop shipping . Thats why all the disclaimers , they don't really have stock , they're just selling it for the manufacturer for a cut. I looked at some of the other online retailers that DO have numbers listed and the prices were the same.

Better read the other thread...

GT, I think you're being... overly optomistic, given the circumstances and BBB information. You might want to look at the original thread:

I'm not sure why it was necessary to open up another topic on this one... better to keep it all together,.

If people are not getting

If people are not getting their money back , or are not receiving what they paid for , they need to report it to their state's attorney general and or the FBI  for fraud, not the BBB . Thats why you should never use money orders or cash unless you know the individual or are conducting business in person , If you use a credit card the FBI can get involved and hit them with wire fraud and put them behind bars .

If they wont take Paypal or a credit card , thats an immediate red flag for me. Usually thats an indication that they're trying to avoid wire fraud charges , it makes fraud more difficult to prove.

Sorry about that,...my opening another thread on same subject.

Perhaps either one of them should be better titled to get the subject matter across. I missed that first one, even while it was better titled than mine here.
