My staging yard benchwork is up!

'

The only problem is, I'm pretty burnt out on benchwork at this point. I also miss having a loop to run trains on, but it's going to take a LOT of benchwork building to get to that point... Hopefully I will survive until September, when our club can finally set up again after almost two years.

Design

A key design hint is to design your layout in phases or sections that can each be operated.  It usually requires a temporary staging area to attach to the end of the layout.  For example I built my layout in several stages.  In every stage the bulk of the layout was operable.   That way I could operate, but didn’t have to complete all the bench work or all the track at one time.
The last big phase was completed in July.  It was originally supposed to use the temporary staging until the new phase was done but since Covid shut everything down nobody was coming over to operate anyway, I just did the whole phase in one piece.

MRH promotes”TOMA” but you can do the same thing with any layout of any construction method if you plan for it.
