The July issue of MRH and Running Extra are on track for an almost-on-time release.

MRH should be going out for final text-only staff review by the morning of the 14th.

Ad placement should begin later that day, and MRH should show up very late on the 15th or on the wee hours of the 16th.

Running Extra will be about two days behind MRH this time, likely showing up the evening of Saturday, July 17th.

I will keep you posted because things do come up, including an unexpected family emergency that takes time away from the office.

UPDATE WED JULY 14

July MRH mag is out for staff text review right now.

Will be placing ads in the issue today and then sending it out for ad review.

It remains to do color and exposure correction on all the images, render and upload media (What's Neat mostly), build issue comment landing pages with thumbnails, then generate all the PDFs (Adaptive, Wide, Online) and upload them. Then activate the "new issue is here" pages.

Current target is very late on the 15th, which likely means wee hours of the 16th. For most of you, that means you should wake up on the 16th and have the July MRH on the website. The come-and-get-it email blast will likely go out on the afternoon of the 17th.

Running Extra is targeted to be released the evening of Sunday, July 18th. It always comes out *after* MRH because we want a fully tested and vetted MRH in the back for our paid subscribers. You freebie guys get to be the MRH testers if you download the earliest release! (wink and grin)

UPDATE THU JULY 15

July MRH mag staff text review is complete, and the issue is out for ad review right now -- that review should be done by 6pm Eastern today.

Then we will finalize the issue and get it posted circa 5 am Eastern (2 am Pacific) on the 16th.

Nice try. Running out of gas physically and had to take a long nap. It's going to be later on the 16th now -- I'm not going to push myself because I don't want a relapse.

After that, on to the Jun/Jul issue of Running Extra. We expect to post that by Sunday evening, July 18.

UPDATE FRI JULY 16

July MRH mag staff text ad review is complete, but then some last minute advertiser changes came in, so I had to make a choice. Do I make room for more ad revenue by delaying another day, or do I say no to the extra ad revenue and die by the schedule when the issue is already a bit late?

So I opted to delay another day to get more ads in. So be it, we got lucky this time and you can all be happy there's some extra ad funding that will mean more free pages next month.

Looks like afternoon of the 17th and a few more ad pages.

UPDATE SAT JULY 17

July MRH mag has finally been released!

I'm updating the release of Running Extra to the evening of Monday, July 19th.

All told, the combined MRH + Running Extra is the largest we've seen in quite a while -- 288 pages total.

One more note

Joe and Patty are both doing pretty good now, but we got a late start on the July magazines because we really were not feeling up to snuff until later in June. Ordinarily, we start the next months issue about week two of the previous month, not week four, so we've put the pedal-to-the-metal this time to get an almost-on-time issue release.

Don't over do it, need to

Don't over do it, need to build up your strength as you two had it bad. The mag can always wait.

Your health is more important  then getting the mag out on a set day, That's if we want more issue in the future.

Can' t do that if you over do it and have a relapse

Not pushing as hard as I usually do

Don't over do it ...

Not pushing as hard as I usually do, that's why we're still a tad late. Plus we got a two week later-than-normal start this time due to being so sick earlier in June.

My ideal goal is to get MRH out by the 13th on the website, then get Running Extra out by the 15th. Then when I send the come-and-get-it email blast on the 15th, all the mags are out.

I like it....

The way you are doing it. You can only do what you can do. Your health is far more important than MRH. I do enjoy reading the freebie and although I see some "minor errors", I usually don't mention them because I usually see others commenting on them before I even figure out how to put them in this forum. So, JoeF: All I want to say is Thanks - for the wonderful job you are doing for this hobby. I've enjoyed every issue you've put out and do click on advertisers for items I'm interested in. (And even some I'm not directly interested in, but think might be of interest to others and I can forward the info to. Mentioning of course, where I found them.)

Seems you have had an attack

Seems you have had an attack of sanity.

If you had made the 2:00 AM promise a sub thread on coffee brews would be needed. *

As others have said, take it easy till you really do recover. It's easy to believe after a hard illness that just because you're not sick, you're well.

* Of course tea drinkers might have a subtly different view on that.

The good news is we've already started August

The last two issues were rather late, and of course the June issue of Running Extra has become the June/July issue. We got later start on July, two weeks later than normal, so it's also running a tad late. But given that we've now started on August again like normal, I'm expecting it to be on time.

No problem

Model Railroader doesn't show up in my mailbox the same day each month. Neither does Railroad Model Craftsman.  Not a big deal here.

CTRL+F5 ... force browser round trip to the web server

Hah hah, that's the browser cache messing with you. You need to tell your browser who is boss and do a force refresh CTRL + F5 ... that tells the browser to not use the local copy it made of the website several hours ago and to deliberately go back to the server for a fresh copy as of this moment.

That will fix it.

I used to manage web developers and every junior web developer hit this problem. They would make changes to the webpage and then test it in their browser and it would be unchanged. They would come to me scratching their head.

I'd show them how to do a force refresh and voila! There are the changes, what do you know!
