PowerCab FW 1.65 Manual : See page 59

Dear D,

K, follow me here...

- Powercab FW 1.65 Manual available from

https://ncedcc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/200498789/Power_Cab_V_1.65_Manual.pdf

- Depending on how you're viewing the resulting PDF,
using either Adobe PDF Reader's or Google Chrome's "Search" function (CTRL + F),

with search term "Function Refresh",
(click the "Next" button to cycle thru all Instances of the Search Terms found, should be 5 instances)

1st Instance - Page 38

Quote:

PROGRAMMING MENUS TABLE OF CONTENTS
      ....
      FUNCTION REFRESH RATE .............................................................................. 57

(NB the TOC says "57", but trust me here)

which leads you to...
(Click "Next")

2nd Instance - Page 59

Quote:

FUNCTION REFRESH (default is 0=OFF)
Function Refresh will keep the lights and sounds working (F0 through F8) on
locomotives that don’t remember the state of their functions on start up and dirty
track.

NB that the default is "0" or OFF,
changing to "1" enables a Refresh Rate for Functions of approx Once-per-sec.

Hopefully, if you've followed along and actually checked-out the Manual PDF,
you should now be well on your way to Setup Command Station joy...

Now, in allied news, if what you're actually searching for is

"...how many times is a given function command set down the rails,
after the Human presses a given Function key?..."

then reccomend looking at the bottom of Page 57

Quote:

NUMBER OF TEMP PACKETS (default is 4)
This adjusts the number of Function control commands that are sent when a
Function control button is pressed.

I hope this helps...

Professor …

Thanks for this post.  It got me reading and watching Tsunami videos to see if I can get my decoder to trigger a flashing effect on an LED beacon since I’ve had zero luck finding flashing amber LEDs.  I’m going to try tricking it via a ditch light or  FRED.

Details Reqd

Dear Mike,

ST TSUs are very much capable of providing a Strobe/Flashing light output.

Questions arising:

Q1- Original TSU, or newer TSU2?

Q2- Which Function Output wire/color?

Q3- What specific F-key do you wish to trigger the Strobe effect?

The appropriate "Ref Manual" for the Decoder Family in question is your first stop (Q1 above),

and the answers to Q2 and 3 should give all the Variables reqd to "work thru the process" and achieve the desired result.

IIRC we've walked thru the basic procedure here on MRH previously, but if you can answer the Qs above, we can give it a swing...

I’m going to use FX3 (green wire) for my beacon

I found the technical reference manual for TSU-2200 and should be able to figure it out.  Your post gave me the spark to even look!  This will hopefully obviate my need to find flashing amber LEDs.

Disambiguation : "F3" =/= "FX3"

Dear Mike,

Minor (but important) detail,

"F3" (the Function Key Input you press to trigger some effect/behaviour/logical-action)

is NOT the same as

"FX3" (The Green Physical Output wire on a TSU-2200 decoder)

The necessary "mental 2-step" you'll have to get your head around is:

Step 1 - Map the required INPUT (F-key) to the desired Physical/Sound/Logical OUTPUT
(See above)

Step 2 - Configure the given OUTPUT to behave in the desired manner
(EG Normal light, Regular strobe/flashing light/flickering light, etc etc)

Looking forward to hearing how you get on, although I suspect we've quite effectively hijacked the OP's original question/thread... (Sorry D! Did you get the PowerCab Command Station Setup sorted?)

Thanks Professor

Since corrected to FX3 and an Opology to the Op (Apology to Op) for taking the original post off track.  I have achieved success though, which can be seen over here !
