Yesterday was the inaugural Red River RPM Meet in Fort Worth, Texas. It was a fun time and a better turnout than we'd hoped for. I got to meet a lot of new friends and see some old friends as well. It's hard to pick some photos to share, so here's the link to the entire gallery:

Also, my phone doesn't do near as well as a camera so if you look around the usual spots (facebook, flikr, etc) I'm sure you can find far better photos of the event.

Here are some of my photos:

Pretty close!

About ten miles south of Alliance in Saginaw adjacent to Tower 29 Saginaw Interlocking and just north of Saginaw Yard. That's where I hired out as a conductor and one of my railfan spots as a kid.

Those CF7s were cut up long ago, but they were switching the old Burrus Mill in my era. I wish I had bought more of the upgraded Athearn model when I could. I made decals to model the one oddball of the three but never found another one to repaint.

about time

I had been waiting for an event like this in Texas for years.  Then I moved to Kansas in January.  Work and a move into our new to us house prevented me from coming back.  I recognize two names above from my days in the Metroplex 35 years ago.  Some really outstanding modeling here.  Thanks for posting these.

Thanks Ryan

Looks like a good show.  Thanks for sharing the pics and album.  I may need to add that show to a vacation plan sometime.

Steve, we would love to have

Steve, we would love to have you. You'd fit right in with all of the vehicle modelers in the area, even if most of your models are slightly larger than ours!

CF7, maybe I can meet you at the Mid-Continent RPM Meet in Benton (Wichita) Kansas? It's a great meet each time I've gone and in many ways it was the inspiration for the Red River RPM.

Thanks!

Enjoyed looking through the gallery.  Some excellent models...especially enjoyed those that had cards with a little prototype history and information on the modeling methods.

Thanks for the comments,

Thanks for the comments, Chuck. I'll be sure to let next year's participants know (including myself!) that the cards are helpful to people looking at the models. I'm used to just presenting the models in person but that doesn't help in a photo gallery.

Next year?

Ryan,

Is there going to be a RPM next year? If so I would be up to bringing my 15 free-moN sections modeling the Soo and Milwaukee Road in the late 70’s in the twin cities up in Minnesota.

Thanks for sharing

Some excellent work by modelers. Glad to have the Red River RPM added to the RPM schedule. Please share more photos if possible.

Greg, yes we plan on another

Greg, yes we plan on another event next year!  Based on the response this year it should be bigger and better. I don't think we're at the point where we will expand it to two days, but we might need a larger venue for a one-day event.

Thomas, the link to all my photos is in the original post. There are photos on Flickr by other participants and I would bet on Facebook as well.
