Can you guys recommend some places to find some good track templates for curves. I use to have a nice set of wooden ones but they’re mia now. Need to make a 24ish type curve.  Thanks Pat

May I Suggest

If it is track laying guides you are looking for, Prawn Designs can help you.  They have a complete line of guides in any radius you may want.  Contact them at orders@prawndesigns.com with your questions.  Their website is http://www.prawndesigns.com.

Sweepsticks

I hadn’t heard of Prawn Designs before, looks like they’re product might not be quite ready yet but they say they’ll have easement templates as well as curves.  Definitely worth looking into.

In case Prawn Designs doesn’t pan out, try sweepsticks from Fast Tracks:

track templates?

What do you want to use them for?  If it's just for planning routes or laying cork roadbed you can just cut some out of cardboard or thin plywood. If you want them to hold track in proper alignment while gluing it down you might try Fast tracks( handlaid track dot com) ,I think I saw some for sale there. If you are using flextrack and have the route drawn as a nice curve you shouldn't need any template when gluing as flextrack is pretty much self fairing ....DaveB

Prawn Designs

Ken,

Just as an FYI Prawn Designs has been around for ten years or more.  I have used them many times and prefer their track guides over Sweepsticks because of the way they connect together. Yes, their new curves and easements are not quite ready yet; they are their standard size offerings that they’ll add to the website.  They have always been available to cut whatever shapes needed on demand.  The last set I ordered was several lengths of 90” radius and a 36” long straight-to-90”-radius easement.  They yielded a really good looking curve.

Templates for curves.

Years ago, when at a club, we simply made our own. Good stiff cardboard laid out with pencil, etc. and cut to shape. It is really not too hard/difficult. Unless you need a variety. Usually in a layout, the curves are pretty much the same. With the exception of easements and such. And those are far easier than most people make them out to be. Just MHO.

Fast Tracks

Fast Tracks have a product called sweep sticks.

I found them invaluable in doing trackwork. No kinks where I used them.
