When installing my fascia its tough to handle long thin pieces of Masonite around corners.

To assist in this I made these little brackets from scraps of plywood.  The brackets have step in them support the fascia at a standard distance below the joists and a little lip to keep the fascia from sliding off the end of the support.  All the plywood pieces are just glued together.

They are temporarily screwed to the underside of the joists.  The fascia is rested in the slot and then it can be attached to the joists.  These brackets make it easy for one person to install 8 ft strips of fascia.  After the fasica is secured the brackets are unscrewed and removed, ready for the next stretch of fascia.

The picture below shows one bracket in place and a removed bracket on the tracks.

Neat idea!

That’s a neat idea Dave.  I’ve always fought with long fascia strips, this looks like it should make it easy.

I'll Try That

I think I'll try this idea when I eventually get to fascia.

Well that is going to take all the fun out of that job!

How do you propose to knock half a dozen items down to the floor with a wildly flailing Masonite whip using those supports?

All kidding aside, clever idea.

Whip it good

You still have to get it in the layout room and into position so there is still lots of opportunity for havoc.  I wouldn't want it to be too easy.

Great idea!

That is a pretty neat solution to an annoying problem. As I am not too resourceful, I get a friend to come over and help hold the masonite in place while I go real fast with a power screwdriver until the basic position is held.

Good solution

Since I am the only one working on my layout I will be using this ideal, thanks.
