Grandpa will be leaving soon to pickup the grandkids in his new 1974 Buick station wagon.  Grandkids love the view from the front porch!  In the background, Missouri Pacific Railroad’s Fort Smith, Arkansas local is on its way to the next customer.

A little "housework" this

A little "housework" this weekend.  I started with this kit that has been on every layout I have built since I was 9:

Then a bit of paint and a few details later:

I still have to finish a new foundation for it, but it looks good!

All I can say is "WOW"!

Greg: Outstanding model work. I don't think I've seen such good modeling in ages. But I don't want to turn anyone else from trying. Or from showing. I just wish I could do something similar. But my modeling skills aren't anywhere near yours.

G&D Tribute loco

My brother Steve visited over the Memorial Day weekend, and brought his newly finished G&D #50 tribute loco. G&D prexy Mark Harrison Vanderlip was in attendance for her maiden run over the Taggart Transcontinental, a G&D partner road. One turnout needed a few deft strokes of a file on one point, but after that it was high green. Oddly, none of my steamers ever picked that point. Obviously, a modified Mantua Pacific, mated with a train-show brass tender. TCS WOW decoder and a rebuilt driveline. She runs like a fine watch.
