Aristocraft used to make a radio control DC throttle; I don't know if they are still being made.

There have been other tethered control systems that may be found on the secondary market like the Star Tec Hogger.  I have had one for years.

ITTC

George Solovay of Innovative Train Technology used to make the "Innovator" series of memory walkaround controllers.  I used them B4-DCC, worked very well.  You will have to find them used as ITT doesn't make them anymore.  All he is producing now are sound cards.

If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!

Sadly, no more GML throttles

I was going to recommend the GML Enterprises walk-around throttles, but I just learned that GML closed down late last year and since that time, Mr. Lewis has passed.

GML made and sold a great line of walk-around throttles and had a line of fast clock components that I'd installed on a couple of layouts. Gene had been selling these since the mid-1980s.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used GML throttle- they are rock-solid and used components that can be replaced if damaged.

Large scale decoder

My club is using a large scale decoder on our NCE system to have the ability to run legacy DC stuff on one of the lines. Mark Gurries recommends against it, but so far it's worked fine. The club used to use Aristo Craft throttles, those are long gone, unavailable, and unserviceable. Small scales went DCC, large scales went to battery radio, so there's no market left.

The Hogger

Check swap meets and eBay for a unit called the Hogger. Worked great for me, many years ago...
