I have this Atlas Truss Bridge.  There are some slots on top as if it was designed for horizontal girders.  Is this something available, or should I try and make my own?  I know I could not do better than the existing girders on the kit.

I believe those slots

were for girders when bridge is used upside down, like two bridges on each side of bridge on box picture.

Those slots are for making a Warren truss deck bridge instead of the Warren truss through bridge.

I see

The back of the box shows the Deck Bridge Kit.  Still, it would have been nice to throw a couple of girders in to fill up the empty space on the Truss Bridge.

Yeah but.....

Then there wouldn't be enough clearance to run an HO train through it.  Because you know if they included the extra parts someone would use them and then return the kit as defective.

Just now

Someone just now posted this on a Facebook page about model bridges.  Too short for the Atlas.

Walthers

That's the Walthers kit for a single-track through truss.  Much longer span, so it needs deeper sides, which leaves room for overhead beams thst make the structure more rigid.  Very few railroad through trusses have been built shorter than 120 feet in length.
