Nice job

Neat to see what can be done with this device, although for this project it might have been easier with sheet styrene.  The trick with the wax paper and the iron was especially useful

Interesting

I didn't know they had 3D pens like that. Useful to know about, thanks for making the video. Opens up some  new techniques. Might be good for making small armatures for bushes or N-scale trees, or other things where a shaky hand drawn item is more natural than a perfectly straight line.

I've used one

I've used a 3D pen. The good news is that it's pretty cheap to get into ($30-$40), but it also uses lower-temperature filament than most fixed 3D printers. It's not quite PLA, it's something a bit more spongy. Not a bad idea for randomized shapes, but certainly not repeatable. The idea of using an iron to create sheets is ingenious, though.

Very interesting and creative.

Thanks for posting the links to the videos showing your methods, and the finished model.

Jerry

3D pen sculpting

Check out YouTube for lots of amazing stuff made with 3D pen and colored filaments!

Just to whet your interest, here's one of the simpler projects : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U--0QU1OV4U

Nice

Just watched this on you tube and then came here and find the same link. Very well done. I have been researching 3D pens while on vacation before checking in here on MRH. Very timely for me.

I need another 200+ trees for my layout. What I have now is 90% wire armatures and have been thinking this might speed up the process. I have an idea of what 3D pen you are using but can you give us the make and model number you are using.
