Home on the farm making all sorts of equipment repairs and coddling our new Grandson, so have had limited time for model railroading since Easter.  My 20 year old Digitrax DCS200 works but has been giving me issues with a battery installed for about a year.  Works Fine with no battery but loses any changes to programming without. Half the time it won’t run any loco, and certainly won’t program any with a battery aboard. Have changed out at least 10 2032 batteries.

Seems to work fine with no battery.  Runs, programs, etc. So am suspicious of some failed/failing componen5 in the battery section.

Digitrax site says they still repair.  One tech said they don’t and can’t work on the power supplies. Another said they could.

Was thinking about just replacing it with a Zephyr Express like I have on my B&H in Vancouver, but ended up taking another “20 year plunge” and bought a new DCS240 and PS2012E for my future big layout and to use in my small projects and am hoping to repurpose the DCS200 as a booster/auto-reversing controller, but it’s kind of a pain to have to redo the programming every time I turn it on.

I still have to try it with the new PS2012E to eliminate the power supply as a potential problem.

Curious if others with DCS100 or DCS200have had these kinds of issues, and also how they might perform as a booster/auto-reverser with a DCS240 in command.

Thanks

@Mike

There's a support group, not affiliated with Digitrax,

Digitrax-Users@groups.io

There's quite a collection of experienced Digitrax users there, and I think you'll get a really good answer if you ask there.

Thanks Blair.

I had been poking around on there a bit but didn’t see anything directly related in my search for DCS200/100 but will post the question there as well.

I’m going to try to new power supply on it as well. My DCS200 came as an 8A Super Chief but was only supplied with a 5A power supply.  I didn’t know what to do about it at the time and the dealer said that was normal (LOL).  Of course at that point they already had my $1,095.  Lol. The price tag is still on the box.  Glad to see Digitrax has avoided inflation.
