Hi,

I’m considering using the plug and play Walthers Control System to operate my turnouts, but I’d like to know if anyone has added a simple block signalling system and how they did it.

Thanks Daryl

Hi Daryl, I am not an expert

Hi Daryl,

I am not an expert on the Walthers Control System, but based on what I have found by reading about it, it does not seem to have any real impact or relation to any sort of signaling system?  Am I wrong there?

What are you really trying to do when you say a "simple block signalling system"?  Typically that implies that the track is detected unless you just want signals that randomly change for show - there are boards out there that do that.  When you talk about detection you pretty much are no longer "simple".

I am using Digitrax and RR Cirkits components for detection; Digitrax SE8C signal board; and JMRI/CATS for CTC/ABS signal logic.  Happy to talk more about that if you like - just want to understand better what you are really trying to do and how the Walthers system relates to signalling.

Turnouts

The only thing that's relevant for turnout control is feedback to the signaling system from the turnout. It doesn't affect the block detection and signaling itself.
