My Prodigy Wiress Remote has (4) rechargeable AAA batteries (BTY 1000 - HW-IN).  I can charge it fully, turn it off, remove the connecting cable and leave it sit unconnected and not used for several days.  Over a period of less than a week, the batteries will run down to zero level.

Is that normal for rechargeable batteries, are mine defective, is there something in the Wireless Remote drawing them down even with it turned off, or what?  Anyone know what this is telling me?

Thanks for your help.

Deane

I pretty much gave up on rechargeable.................

..........batteries as the alkaline AAA's last so long and never loose their charge. I just started using my remote after a couple of years and the batteries were still good!  I seem to remember having that problem as well and switched to alkaline batteries.

Older rechargeables

Older rechargeables have high self-discharge. Decent quality newer NiMH batteries keep their charge for about a year. Your are either shot, or there is a phantom drain in the throttle. Digitrax throttles drain their batteries, so you have to take them out when you're not operating.

What type of Rechargeable

What type of Rechargeable batteries are you using? we use NiMH AAAs in the club throttles and those tend to last about 3-4 hours of active use and can be left in storage uncharged for a few weeks. They never go all the way to zero. I've found MRC wireless get's pretty unreliable when voltage is reported by the throttle as being below about 5.2.

I'd get new batteries.

. . .

He states using Ebay junk BTY 1000 - HW-IN  ( which he read upside down  as they are NiMH .)

You tube has a ton of video reviews on these and common denominator is JUNK.

For the price, if they last 6 month be happy. If you want long life, spend the money.

I stopped buying batteries off Ebay because the sellers are pandering junk. Remote, keyfobs, and other devices were continually giving me problems until I gave up and purchased name brand batteries..

You are better of using  AmazonBasics  or Eneloop

I've had the same issue with no-name crap on Amazon. There is plenty of good stuff on both sites, but you have to be really careful about what you're buying, as a lot of it is just that- crap.
