Just out of the paint shop

Beautiful work this week, everyone! Your work inspires me!

My two latest painting and lettering projects.

Last year I finally tracked down a rider car for the Monon locals on the Operations Road Show layout. This past month, I painted it.

Half the challenge was choosing the lettering arrangement- the Monon wasn't consistent in how they lettered their various rider cars to begin with, then they varied further across the years with each repainting.

Another data-only Accurail reefer has found its purpose, this time inspired by Sir Terry Pratchett's Raising Steam.

Now everyone can buy "Cut Me Own Throat" Dibbler's suspicious-looking sausages!

Next project: the Pere Marquette cabooses I've collected for my future home layout.

Awesome Talent

You guys are so talented. Chris, the trestle and river scene are great. Greg, I have been an admirer of your work for quite awhile. I never would have thought to grow my bushes and trees from seed. I can't wait to see another 4x4. uglyK5, your K5 may be ugly, but your boxcars are spot on. Glenn

Nice Work

Excellent work here from so many modelers.   Nice to see so many clever ideas and all well done.   I could comment on them all, but I wanted to say the dry creek bed and the dead tree's are a fantastic touch.

I have a bag of some sage brush I collected on a trip, that I plan to spread around in the forests here.

Six best plastic steam locomotives

I'm signed in, but I can not access this article in the subject box.  There are two locomotives mentioned one being the Bachmann 2-8-0 and the other a 2-8-2 a BLI product I believe, but if that's two of the six, where are the other 4 ?

That’s two plastic steam locomotive model recommendations by JIM SIX ... the guy's last name is SIX and he’s a recognized author in the hobby. I had to laugh that you though it was six (count them) recommendations.

The two recommendations are

1. Marklin/Trix 2-8-2.

N scale Housatonic RR Progress

I am posting a quick video showing some of the progress I have made lately on my N scale Housatonic RR.  I am modeling actual customers and locations along the Housatonic RR in western CT and MA.  I have made a lot of scenery progress and have added sound decoders to my locomotives.  There is still a lot to be done!
