Hello and happy weekend!

Up to May last year I had JMRI in my laptop (with Windows 7) connected to my Digitrax DCS100 (from SuperChief) through a LocoBuffer USD. I programmed my almost 80 engines with JMRI and run them with my DT400 throttles and since early 2019 I made it WiFi with a Digitrax LNWi and Engine Driver and WiThrottle apps. Actually, I do not like much apps as I have to look at where I put my finger to control, a largely discuss problem in this forum!

But my dream came true in February 2020 upon receiving my TCS UWT-100 also connected to my DCS100 through the LNWi.

By that time, I could see my activated Engine Driver and WiThrottle apps and the UWT-100 displayed in rows in the little WiThrottle screen of my JMRI. Later that year, having to changing from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and taking that opportunity, I also installed V4 of JMRI (V4.18+R37ad3d0). Everything went smooth, no problem in working JMRI. More recently, I also changed my Digitrax set to a DCS210+ (from Evolution Express Advanced) which eliminated the need for the LocoBuffer USB as an interfase is incorporated. Everything went smooth as well, JMRI works great except for its WiThrottle so I must have done / configured something wrong since I do not see any Wi-Fi throttle activated. Actually, I am not near an electronic expert and I do not understand anything about Wi-Fi connection, server connection, IP address and all related; just follow manuals but I do not know where to start troubleshooting the problems and correct them.
Any guide or help that you could provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

. . .

The DCS210+  does have a integrated PR4 to it.  The one catch might be your configuration of DecoderPro Preferences in regards to the PR4 connection (Command Station )  type.

By default DecoderPro (JMRI) installs the PR4 as a Standalone Programmer which does not offer Loconet connectivity. Hence your PR4 will not talk LOCONET  but will permit the Programming of decoders.

Look in PREFERENCES > .>   CONNECTIONS. Check that you selected the DCS210 as Command Station type. This will permit Loconet connectivity and might help get WiFI working.

Are you still talking thru the Digitrax LNWI  ?  JMRI does not talk LNWI.

Impossible to connect to WiThrottle.

Thank you very much for your information, Marc!

“… your PR4 will not talk LOCONET  but will permit the Programming of decoders.”

That is exactly what I have been using my V4.18 JMRI for —programming—, and it was totally successful using either my DCS100 and now, my DCS210+ (both on Windows 10).  I am also able to run locomotives through JMRI throttles.

I did the changes in PREFERENCES CONNECTIONS as you proposed but it did not solve the problem.

Because of your saying that the incorporated interface in the DCS210+ was a PR4 —what I ignored—, I wonder if it is actually working properly for purposes other than connecting my laptop for programming and running locomotives through JMRI. I looked into the PR4 manual at Digitrax and Windows 10 installation document, http://www.digitrax.com/media/apps/software/download/26/PR3-Install-Win10_1.pdf and I do not recall having been requested to install, update or configure something (drivers(?)) when putting my DCS210+ to work. JMRI just worked for programming and running trains after simply indicating which was my new command station in the Preferences.

Regarding your question about my LNWi, yes, I continue using it to operate trains with my TCS UWT-100 and (sometimes only) with Engine Driver and WiThrottle apps. Normally, JMRI is off (my laptop off) because I prefer handheld throttles but I wanted to connect them through JMRI and leave the LNWi; that is what I wanted to express in my original writing!

Again, thank you, Marc

Thanks to Bob M. as well!

I just wanted to avoid having to address this problem the JMRI and Digitrax groups.io!
