I am in the process of making trees for my layout. I am using Woodland Scenics metal tree armatures and Woodland Scenics clump foliage material. First I applied Hob-e-tac glue to the tree armatures and let it dry until it turns clear as recommended, then I apply the clump foliage material making sure that it adheres to the glue. The trouble that I am having is that the foliage material begins falling off in small pieces after a few days as if the tree was losing its foliage in the fall time. My question is, has anyone experienced a similar situation, and if so what the remedy was?

Also, I have read about the Super Trees from Scenic Express. If one had to choose between the two methods, which would be your choice?

Thanks.

Hair spray

I had this issue when I made trees of all types. Once the foliage glue was dry, I used a liquid hair spray in a pump bottle on them, this has work very good. After a few years some of the foliage started to fall off but most of it has stayed on.

the remedy?

go with the flow. Spray the leaves yellow or red and leave them on the ground . Your layout is trying to tell you it wants to live in the fall. :> ) .....DaveB

new dog, old tricks

Hoffertg,

I have been in and out of this hobby since my father built one of those (Window Screens and Sawdust) layouts.

With every passing year i find or come across some Really Great products or such in info. tutorials.

But I have learned that some times having only a coin and a button in my pocket,  makes it easyer for me to research a more proven system or product.

Since the days of the Bee Hive I have most often trusted    Aqua Net.

It works well with Halloween hair do's too!

Glue

In these situations I'm using diluted white glue spraying all over the tree - a lot! This will take a few days to dry and it will dry transparent. I'm happy with it.
