Hi,

Would anyone have any advice on how to fix wheel wobble on an Athearn Genesis diesel?   This is for an SD70Ace which has the 1.5mm half-axles with the delrin center axle/gear.  I am upgrading to NWSL wheelsets but after mounting onto the axle they seem to roll noticeably out of true.  It is hard for me to tell if it is the new wheelsets that are actually out of true, or if perhaps I inadvertently bent the axle when installing them.  I don't have a drill press or such so I have been trying to do this carefully by hand.   Any/all advice is greatly appreciated!

TIA,

Ed

Quick Check

You can take each axle half and turn it slowly in your drill or drill press. That will quickly tell you if the wheel itself is true on the axle. I doubt you bent the axle just pressing them into a plastic gear.

@Ed - You might

be able to roll the truck across a piece of paper, then apply a ruler to the marks left?  If one wheelset is out of true, you should see a deviation from straight in the marks left on the paper.  You might have to apply some graphite to the wheelset of interest first, to ensure it leaves a good mark.
