The question of highway markings comes up every so often.  I came across this issue of "The History Guy" that talks about highway markings and might be handy.

I have had this from well

I have had this from well before the internet was popular,  never thought to look for it online.  but now it makes sense if you do not think about it.

MUTCD for Different Periods

With some digging, you can find manuals for the MUTCD issued during different periods of time.  I've downloaded PDFs for the ones issued in 1948 and 1961.  Excellent references!

Highway markings?

Did they scratch them in the dirt in 1905? Gotta keep those two 1903 olds from running into each other...DaveB
