One of the signature scenes of both the Western Maryland RR and Maryland Midland in Union Bridge, Md. when they ran down Farquhar Street to get to the cement plant is the track entering Faquhar Street by passing very closely beside a simple red brick two story house.  I mean really close by it.  The track is literally in the front yard. Do a google maps search of Union Bridge on Farquhar street and go to street view if you don't believe me.   Street running continued until 2007.

I need to model this house.  I've done internet searches and cannot find a model of a 2 story brick rectangular colonial house similar to this one.  I need one where the front entrance is is in the middle of the long side of the structure and there are two windows upstairs and two downstairs on each side of the front door.  You would think someone has offered such a kit in the past somewhere but I have not found it.  A kit similar to this building is unavailable from the usual companies such as Walthers.

What I am asking if anyone is aware of a kit maker among the many small craftsman kit makers has ever offered structure similar to this?  If not then it is scratch building time for me.  Oh well!  Thanks.

More information would be useful. Is it this house?

If this is it, then I wasn't able to find anything with a quick search of American Model Builders' site. You might be able to bash one out of some Rix kits.

Yes

Yes, that is the house.  One would think that someone would have made a kit for something similar over the years but I have not been able to find it.  Scratch building it isn't a huge issue for me, I'm just surprised that no one seems to have done it.

I would think this would be a prime candidate for scratchbuilding out of paper and mat board for the main structure. The basic profile is rather simple. Look over the Clever Models web site for textures and details of construction methods.

Check with RailScale models.

Check with RailScale models.  I sent in some measurements from photos of this Fort Erie station and he sent me back a very nice kit.

Look at Europe

Nevin, take a look at the offerings from Europe.

The UK firm of Wills sold a semi detached house, part CK11, that is really no more than sheets of brick (very nice), slate roof sections (also nice), and window/door castings, with a template to locate door/window openings. Since you have to cut out openings, just cut them to take Tichy/Grandt windows. These sheets are pretty thick; I'd use an arbor press with a 90o punch.

A duck duck search for Wills kit CK11 will turn up some images. Bear in mind, the "kit" itself is no more than sheets of brick, roof, concrete and stone. The modeler has to locate window/door openings and cut the walls  to size. You can easily assemble a house similar to the one at Union Bridge. This kit is actually a scratchbuilder's project supply.

Aside from that, some brick structure kits from Germany might be a good start also.
