Quick question Joe and MRH staff:

Does it matter/benefit you at MRH whether or not we actually log on whenever we visit the MRH website?

I know over my 10 years and 42 weeks and counting that I do not always logon when visiting the website. Is a visit to the website "count" as much to you and the advertisers any more or less than if I log on each time (or stay logged on)?

Thanks - Happy New Year and keep up the good work!

Not MRH staff but my thoughts...

Why wouldn't you logon whenever you visit the website? That way your account gets updated with what you've read and what you haven't read when accessing the forum via "Recent Posts". If you aren't logged in, and read a bunch of posts, then next time you do logon you get to think there are new posts on a topic and it turns out you already read them.

I would even argue to never logout from the site on a device, unless the site forces a logout on you (like once every 7-10 days or so for me). It's not that there is lots of personal or financial data in your profile like an Amazon or Bank website...

Logging in

Personally, I use a RSS reader for all the model railroad websites, whose content I am interested in reading. I seldom log onto a website. The RSS reader, NetNewsWire, ensures I receive all posts that are updated, or newly posted. If this was detrimental to websites, why would they offer RSS feeds. Glenn
