Recently I (for no particular reason) took the opportunity to promote my old "Imagineering" Column articles.

I see that Adobe Flash Player reaches end of life on 31st December 2020.

What will this mean for access to back issues of MRH?

Download the PDF's

PDF has always been MRH's preferred method of reading MRH. It does not require Flash.

If you go in and check the back issues, I have disabled the links to the Flash downlowder, and except for about a years worth of "read online" issues that are Flash-only they all use an alternative display method such as HTML5.

Frankly, the way the browser manufacturers have made using Flash an absolute pain (we have a non-upgradable monitoring system at my day job that uses it, and will require new hardware to work), I'm more than happy to see it in the rear-view mirror.

Direct article access

Thanks Jeff

I think my question was badly worded because the links I published went directly to the first page of each article within the on-line copy to make it really easy for people to access; thus:

.
I'm guessing there's no way to do this with pdf download, but never mind...

Ah, that...

Hmmm. Thanks for bringing that up.

I don't know how difficult it will be to fix that particular issue, but thank you for the reminder that it exists.

Fortunately I think it is only a real problem for about a years worth of issues. I hope.

That's clear now

Ok - I did a test on all the links I published and it's the only the first two (up to April 2016 that don't work - the September 2016 link is ok, so it's somewhere in between that flash fails.
Many thanks for your help Jeff
