Hi there Joe and the TMTV staff,

I just realized that their is a ton of content that I was unaware of. I have an Apple TV box in my layout room and that is my primary method of enjoying TMTV. Under the TMTV Monthly Shows I can only scroll back as far as the May 2018 show. I had thought that this was a limitation of the service and really just never questioned it. Then while watching one of the recent offering by Bob Fallowfield that he mentions his layout in the April 2017 show. So I did a search on "2017" and pow their in the search is the April show and was able to watch it. Also, one other anomaly is that when you get into the search function you cannot get back to the "home" screen of TMTV and are stuck in the search.

Let me know if  there is any other info I can provide or if I can be of any assistance in any further troubleshooting.

Thanks...!!!

Additional Troubleshooting

Hi Joe...

Just some additional info. I tried logging out of the app and back into it to see if that fixed the issue as well as completely deleting the app and reinstalling it. Neither of those fixed the issue.

Also, not sure if there is a newer version of the app but even after deleting the app and reinstalling it the version was (and this part is from memory as i sit in my office) version 1.0 from I think August 2019.

Sent this one upstairs

SBrooke,

I hit Joe with an email to make sure he saw this. He's pretty savvy when it comes to Apple issues, but this might get kicked to the contractors who handle the software for it.

Just an FYI that all the categories not just "TMTV monthly shows" are truncated. Like I said if I can be of any assistance just let me know...

Thanks again...

Handing this off to the programmers

I'm handing this off to the programmers who did this app. Stay tuned.

Programmer response ...

Here's what they said, which is kind of a lame answer, but we're kinda stuck since they're the developers.

Quote:

At this time, our Apple TV apps do truncate video titles. We don't have a way to bypass this at the present time. I’ve submitted a feature request on your behalf about this so that our Product Team can review this for consideration in future development. Feature request development is based on priority, number of requests, complexity, and other factors.

Regarding getting stuck in the Search view, this is a bug that we do hope to have addressed in the near future. In the interim, we recommend uninstalling the app and reinstalling it to resume normal functionality.

One note, we price our products to be very affordable (in this case, the apps are free, but the TMTV membership does cost a reasonable fee), but what that does mean is we shop around for the most economical service providers. In this case, the app development deal we got was awesome, but it does come with some feature limitations and/or enhancement delays.

For fewer limitations, we would be paying 5-10x more, which is why the other model railroading video providers (Model Railroader Video Plus and Model Railroad Academy) don't even offer apps -- they cost too much. They could not get the pricing we managed to secure! Soooo ... the downside is some features may be weak and take a while to get fully implemented, which is the trade-off.

Uhhh...

Hi there Joe....

The  truncated titles aren't isn't what I was talking about. You literally do not get all the videos themselves. So again if you scroll through the "TMTV monthly shows" the last one is May 2018 and the only way to get to the older ones is through the search feature.

MRH: You misunderstand. The programmers call each video a "title" ... as in "how many titles do you list" ...? They get it, not all the video segments are shown.
