Just a short video with all the working parts working together to make the wig wag work.

Where were they?

Where were wigwags on the stretch of line you're modeling?  I grew up there but by the time  I was old enough to know what a wigwag was I think they were gone.  There were some still in use on the Santa Fe in southeastern Colorado into the late '90s.

Longmont

I saw a couple in a video about the northern end of the C&S the video was from 1959 and Longmont a at least one, most where replaced by what we see today. I also remember a few in Denver when I was living there (1966-70) I could not tell you where. I know that as you said the Santa Fe had some down in the Pueblo area. As I model 1959 I am sure some where around all over the area but by them most where being replaced.

If you need a sound recording

If you need a sound recording of a wigwag, I know of an operable one that I can get a clean recording from. It should 'ding' at each end of the stroke, which looks good there if it is a little far and a little fast.

Otherwise, I for one would be interested in a tutorial!

My locale

Yes, they were all over Southern California in my youth. Many looked and operated much like this model shown in the video. (No, they were not using the push rod used to animate the model)

I might get the courage to model this for my layout, but, in N scale, it would be a challenge.

Thanks Nathan

Thanks Nathan for the offer of a recording. I think I got one already. I have a work bench full of 3 other projects that I am working on. (building a E-5 out of a E-6 and two other buildings). But I got a few request from people on Facebook and youtube so that will get placed on the list.

Thanks Again
