So even that I know that this

So even that I know that this layout will probably not exist for more than a good year I'm starting the next iteration of the G&AM. Why? Because that's fun! At least to me !

The new plan is the smallest version of the G&AM so far. The peninsula with the mountain is gone, the big Barnesville freight yard didn't make it, the branch line is just a short line between Gustavsburg and Rickstown with no loop at the end.

I still have all the track from the last G&AM so I do not have to spend any money besides buying some plywood. I will also not build out the staging yards at this time, I will only build the return loops. It doesn't make sense to waste time on building the staging yards if you know the layout will not be permanent.

So tomorrow I will begin and hopefully I will have a lot of fun with this project, the last layout I will ever build in Florida.

a mindful decision

Hello Michael

all the best and have lots of fun with the final (maybe ) US chapter! The important decisions seem to be taken and I am looking forward to follow along on the G&AM. With your supersonic speed, many things can happen during a year or so .

At this juncture

Who knows when the freedoms before the virus will return.  You may actually have more than a year before international moves can occur.  I know you will have fun with it.  I’ll be following along.

So many trains, so little time,

Scale

Michael

Two things what is the scale N or HO  and second I know your not installing the staging yards, but I have always appreciated your planing for lots of staging.  That is something most modelers do as an after thought.

It's N scale, what else could it be ? As to the staging yards, I did all the planning but I will only install the outer return loop. I can add the missing staging tracks as I need them if it comes to that.

Welcome back, because, I for one have really missed you and your fantastic work. Even if it only lasts a short while, it is amazing to watch a master artist at work.

Go Michael, go!

Have fun!  I can run either HO or N scale on your layout as I have locos in both scales.  I'm looking forward to seeing you guys for some smoked delicious roast at our home.

I am in awe of the speed at which you work

It seems like once you make a decision, the progress on the layout can be measured in multiple yards (or meters) per post.

Have you ever considered writing a couple articles about the use of a laser cutter in building a layout?  Your process from cutting to assembly and painting, especially of stonework bridges and buildings, is really entertaining to read about in the posts you've made.

Hearing a bit more about the way you go about designing each of those projects would make for fascinating reading.

They have a saying in Germany: "Work can mess up your whole day...!"

Because of that I didn't have much time and could only add about 10' of mainline track:

...before you never finish this project could you please, please us with an On30 layout ?

Just to change the 'mood' and again another 'gauge' ?

Success!

Oh no, another scale? I already have enough rolling stock in 2 scales to open a hobby shop!

Something funny happened

Something funny happened yesterday afternoon. I was working on my computer when my left knee started to feel strange. I looked and it was swelling while I watched it. I've never seen anything like it. My wife took me to a doctor and it turns out that I had a burst blood vessel in the knee. It just happened without me hitting something or falling or what else.

Now I'm mostly on my back waiting for this thing to go away which might take a few days. So no updates on the layout!

Something Funny - NOT

Being somewhat disabled myself, I understand your frustration and pain. It never is funny or even that much fun. Just remember that this too shall pass. We're all in this together, so just keep fighting, I'm pulling for you.
