I have now tried to send an email question to Peco twice to 2 different addresses they listed on the internet,...both have been unsuccessful.

Does anyone know how to contact them via email??

...this was the message I was trying to send

I am building a new double deck layout that will be utilizing over 100 turnouts, and I have chosen to use Pecos

I have discovered that a number of these turnouts need some shims added to their guard rails.

I recently tried using some MEK to bond the shims to the guard rail plastic, but experienced a few problems.

Can you tell me the exact plastic type that is utilized to construct your turnouts,....and what adhesive might be best for this job??

Which addresses did you use?

The generic one is info@, but it can take a little time to get a response.  First they have to figure out who can answer your question.

The situation being what it is, they may be a little busy trying to fulfill all the orders which have accumulated while they were shut down or producing PPE related items.

PECO temporary shut down

I was told that PECO was shutting down temporarily for a month or two, might have something to do with Corona. My LHS said it was NOT permanent. The news came from a distributor. Reportedly they will resume operations by the end of the year.

Facebook page mentions email problem

Hi

Their Facebook page “Railway Modeler“ mentions IT problems affecting email response. You might want to message them there.

Once upon a time!

Brian: I wrote to PECO and the response was that the turnouts and flex use a different plastic. You can use super glue on one, but not the other. But my memory is not helping me right now, I think it was the flex you could glue, and not the turnout. So let me suggest: If the guard rail is plastic, as is the ties,  as is the shim. You may have to experiment. I don't remember what I finally used, but I do have "Gorilla Glue" that on the label says "Bonds virtually everything. And that sounds like what I would have used. It's over a year now, so that's why my memory fails. And if I remember correctly, that G G did bond metal rail to the ties. Hope this helps.

That's the first one i tried, and got a message back it was deliverable.

Then I resent it to another email of theirs (i think) and got that same message.

I though I recall a recent posting that they had reopened??

Sounds like Peco is using

Sounds like Peco is using some kind of engineering plastic that is not easy to glue.

Deluxe Materials offer a method using Tricky Stick as preparation for their CA glue. From their catalog: Allows cyano to bond DIFFICULT plastics, rubber & foam including polypropylene, spread & bond shiny surfaces
nylon, vinyl & silicone rubber.

Here is their US catalog: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0131/9341/2666/files/2019-catalogue-US-version.pdf?15431669006341728997

Tricky Stick is on page 4, their CAs are on page 3.

Trade Secret

Or, Peco consider the answer to your question to be a trade secret, and they’re not going to answer it.

So far my ordinary Loctite superglu seems to be working.

@Brian: that is the reason

@Brian: that is the reason that I linked the US-catalog and gave the pages.
